- Our History -

IMGP6082 perspective-fixed-smallIn 1913, Charles Sidney Blackman immigrated to America from Australia settling first in Los Angeles, Ca and moving to the Imperial Valley in 1917. Charles, an accomplished plumber, set out to live the american dream, opening his own shop in Holtville, California. The reputation of Blackman Plumbing grew quickly and in just a few short years, Charles's commitment to quality, workmanship, professional service and fair pricing resulted in a rapidly expanding business. For the next couple of years, the company grew through World War I and embraced the roaring 20's. Then the Depression hit.

Unlike many businesses, Blackman Plumbing didn't just survive the great depression, it thrived. The hard work ethic that had sustained the company now propelled it into the future. Charles two sons, Lester and Edward, became partners in the 30's and all agreed that innovation, skill and the latest technology would be part of it operating philosophy. It proved to be a case of like father, like son.

By 1940 the company had outgrown its original locations in Holtville and Calexico, California and moved to a more spacious headquarters on Main Street in El Centro, California where it remained until 1965. The company relocated once again to it's present headquarters at 1160 South 2nd Street in El Centro, California.

In 1961, Lester's son and 3rd generation, Thomas Sidney Blackman joined the organiztion leading the business into the 80's and 90's. In 1992 the leadership changed and what was Blackman Plumbing became Original Sid Blackman Plumbing, Inc. The company's ongoing goal is clear; Original Sid Blackman Plumbing, Inc. continually  strives to be "THE BEST PLUMBING CONTRACTOR TO WORK WITH, AND THE BEST PLUMBING CONTRACTOR TO WORK FOR".
